Córdoba, June 6th 2014. Dr. Giovanni Appendino, Professor of Organic Chemistry at Universitá del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, Italy), has the honor to be the Presidential Plenary Speaker in the 24th Annual International Cannabinoid Research Society Symposium on the Cannabinoids (ICRS), which takes place next 28thJune- 3rd July, 2014 at Baveno, Italy. The presentation entitledCannabinoides Revisited? New Targets, Chemistry and Plant Sources will be presented on 29th June. The Symposium is sponsored by the VivaCell partner Phytoplant Research (Córdoba, Spain), and other companies working in the cannabinoids field.
The ICRS was formally incorporated as a scientific research society in 1992, with over 500 international members, all active researchers in the field of endogenous, plant-derived and synthetic cannabinoids and related bioactive lipids. In addition to acting as a source for impartial information on Cannabis and the cannabinoids, the main role of the ICRS is to provide an open forum for researchers to meet and discuss their research.
Giovanni Appendino is Professor at the Universita del Piemonte Orientale, Faculty of Pharmacy, at Novara (Italy). He is an expert in natural product chemistry, and his current research is aimed at the study of the biomedical potential of natural products, combining isolation, semi-synthesis and synthesis to discover and optimized new chemotypes of bioactive compounds. He is author in 313 research papers that reach more than 4900 citations. He has also been Editor in Chief of the Journal Fitoterapia and a member of the Advisory Board of European Journal of Organic Chemistry, Planta Medica, Journal of Natural Products, The Open Natural Products Journal and Natural Products Communications.
Professor Giovanni Appendino is co-founder and shareholder of VivaCell Biotechnology España, member of the Scientific Advisory Board and co-author of several patents that protects intellectual property rights of Vivacell’s products.
